About Omicron
Omicron is a federated blogging platform, a home for free expression on the fediverse. Every author is an ActivityPub actor, posts federate, and you can self-host your own instance with no vendor lock-in.
This instance
You are reading omicron.blog, an independently run instance of Omicron, a federated blogging platform. Everyone who writes here gets their own ActivityPub actor, so posts can be followed from any fediverse server.
This instance federates with the wider fediverse. Public posts and profiles can be followed from Mastodon, GoToSocial, and other compatible servers. Anything you publish as public here is public everywhere it reaches, so use the app's follower-only or private options for anything you want to limit.
Accounts on this instance are managed by its operator. If you need help with your account, want content reviewed, or are reporting abuse, write to omicronhq@protonmail.com or use the Flag action on the relevant post or profile.
Instance rules
Be kind and assume good faith. Omicron.blog is a home for free expression. Criticism, disagreement, and unpopular opinions are welcome. Harassment, hate, and abuse are not.
Not allowed on this instance
- Illegal content. Sexual content involving minors has zero tolerance: the account is removed and reported to the authorities.
- Harassment, stalking, doxxing, threats, or incitement to violence.
- Hate speech targeting people for who they are, including race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, disability, or religion.
- Spam, scams, phishing, and inauthentic or coordinated manipulation.
- Pure advertising with no genuine writing behind it. A personal blog that occasionally mentions your own product is fine.
- Anything that disrupts the service, attacks other instances, or spreads malware.
Federation
Public posts and profiles federate over ActivityPub to other instances, which apply their own rules once they receive your content. Content from instances that routinely violate these rules may be defederated.
Enforcement
Moderators review reports filed with the Flag action on posts and profiles. Consequences range from content removal and warnings up to suspension and deletion for severe or repeated violations. To appeal a decision, write to omicronhq@protonmail.com.
